I still remember the winter of 2008. My dad got a Radeon HD 2900 XT straight from Canada, which, paired with his Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 (G0), was pretty much every tech enthusiast's dream at the time(especially in a small country like Serbia.)
Those were the golden days of overclocking: carefully tweaking voltages and relentlessly testing stability until hitting that perfect clock speed. While my dad and older brother spent hours playing Crysis, I realized I wasn't much of a gamer myself. Instead, I was fascinated by everything happening under the hood.
That was the moment my love for both hardware and software was born. I sat beside them for every PC cleanup, repasting GPUs and CPUs, replacing thermal pads, swapping sound cards, and reinstalling operating systems. When a family friend introduced me to my very first commands in the classic Command Prompt, I was completely hooked.
Throughout elementary school, that passion only grew. I lost count of how many games and software tools I set up for my friends. In 5th grade, I joined a programming workshop, and I can hardly describe the awe I felt when I wrote my first lines of code in Pascal. As my education progressed, I explored Assembly, C, C#, and Python... but that initial touch with Pascal is something I'll never forget.
Back then, basketball was a huge part of my life, but at the age of 17, I suffered a severe back injury. With a challenging recovery ahead, programming became my refuge and ultimate source of purpose. I started writing automation scripts in BASH and Python, and even dipped my toes into front-end development, though I found myself far more drawn to the terminal and low-level creativity. It was during that recovery that I truly decided tech was the path I wanted to pursue, and I haven't stopped since.
In 2019, I got my start as an intern at a local tech company. Thanks to a strong grasp of Linux distributions, I quickly secured a full-time role as a System Administrator, supporting developer platforms for hundreds of engineers. Less than two years later, I transitioned into the DevOps domain, a step I've never regretted for a second.
Over the years, my DevOps journey has taken me through a wide range of complex industries and high-stakes environments:
- Fintech & Compliance: Building resilient, highly secure hybrid infrastructure for platforms focused on financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance.
- IoT & Smart Systems: Architecting deployment pipelines and scaling infrastructure for smart metering networks and payment integration gateways.
- High-Scale Sports Betting & Gambling: Optimizing high-throughput CI/CD infrastructure, cloud delivery, and system reliability for large-scale global sports betting and gambling platforms.
- International Training & Mentorship: Delivering intensive DevOps and Cloud Engineering programs abroad, helping to upskill cohorts of engineers in prestigious universities.
Designing system architecture, driving automation, preventing failures, and troubleshooting complex engineering issues is where I truly thrive. While I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and mentoring, my core passion remains hands-on engineering: architecting reliable systems, scaling infrastructure, and solving real-world technical challenges.
